Well, it's still months away, but I have to say,
I am really looking forward to FORTY! YES! You read that right, I am looking forward to turning 40 years old. I am excited about gray hair. I am excited that I will have a 21 year old and a 13 year old soon after I turn 40 also.
Why? I get asked this alot, and my answer usually goes something like this:
I have lived a life that has been, well, let's say, interesting, sometimes chaotic, sometimes dysfunctional...and just plain difficult at times. SO, I am thrilled to have lived through it. I have earned every gray hair on my head too. I've experienced a lot of things, some good, some bad, some quite horrendous.
Early on in my life I had no say about what happened to me or what was done to me, but by the time I was a 'teen' I definitely knew right from wrong (in most things) and I often made choices that brought on much of my problems. But...
GOD is so good...so full of mercy and grace. He was always there, whether He was crying over a little four year old who was being abused or over a 14 year old who was making a choice that she would regret. He was always there...He didn't stop everything that enemy, satan, did to that child, but He gave me a free will as much as he did those wicked people who hurt me over and over for years. AND He ultimately used all that pain, all that suffering, all that horror, to bring about much good!
One really cannot explain it, how God allows evil and uses it for good, but I think millions of people can look back and see that He did!
Genesis 50:20 was a verse I found about 13 years ago...check it out.
Whenever you are tempted to feel sorry for yourself or even for someone else, STOP and tell yourself, I'm not having a pity party, I'm going to have a Victory Celebration instead. That's what I'm doing right now, in my heart, in my spirit, I am having my own Victory Celebration. And I'm smiling from ear to ear, because my Savior, my Lord, is VERY GOOD.
Praise the Lord all you who belong to HIM.
If you do not belong to Him, seek Him while He may be found. Ask Him for help. Get in the Word of God, the Holy Bible, the 66 books. He WILL hear a sincere cry of even the lost, unsaved sinner who wants to know Him. When you believe Him, believe His Word, you will know that you, like me, are a sinner in need of a Savior. Then ask JESUS CHRIST to save you, forgive you, change you...give everything to Him, your past, your hurt, your abuse, you bad habits, your addictions, and surrender your life to Him. You will never ever regret it.
